I'm in the North East US, and I bought a used 2018 40kWh SV a month ago that came with the stock 17" alloys and after-market winter tires, and have a couple questions about tire choices as well as the TPMS system. Tires The Hankook Kinergy tires look to be the most affordable LRR tires. Other options include Firestone Fuel Fighter (also reasonably priced), Ecopia EP422 (the cheapest, although the size would be a bit off... 205/55R17 instead of 205/50R17), and Michelin Energy Saver (very expensive). Has anyone used these Hankooks on a Leaf? I want to squeeze as much range as I can on a 17x7" rim. TPMS I'm planning on getting new tires, rims, and TPMS sensors all set up and balanced with and then mounting them myself. However, I'm wondering how the TPMS system will work. I heard that Leaf Spy Pro can register new sensors on 2017 and older Leafs, but not 2018 Leafs. Is this still true? I don't want to spend $200 on sensors and then have them not work... Alternative to the online option, a local tire shop would cost ~$200 over what I could do myself online, including an alignment.
